Students Do More Than Read During National Celebration

Every year, March is designated as National Reading Month.

Thursday, however, was “Read Across America Day,” which coincides with Dr. Seuss’ birthday. It’s a day to celebrate being a bookworm by heading to the library or curling up on the couch with your favorite book. “Read Across America Day” calls upon everyone to read and engage with children to make reading a more fun and interactive experience.

Bethani Tweedlie’s 4th grade students at Hilltop Elementary School had a wonderful time celebrating the annual observance. They had a “Fox in Socks” Drive and will be donating all items collected to a local organization.

Dr. Haines and Duncan, her dog, also visited in the afternoon as guest readers.
